The home owner wanted the entire home to be fully 4K ready, so the Sony 4K Media Player, as well various Blu-ray Players, Apple TVs, and Comcast boxes are all switched via an Atlona HDCP 2.2 compliant 4K video distribution system. Lutron lighting control sets the pre-show mood and is fully integrated into the home’s Savant Pro automation system. Press “play” on the Savant Pro App, and the lights dim as the movie starts. Press “pause” and the lights are brought up to a level that allows late comers to find their seats.

The owners had seen a star ceiling in a another home theater and asked if TYM could build one for them. So a completely bespoke fiber optic star ceiling was created. Over 26,000 linear feet (5 miles) of fiber optic strands were hand placed into the ceiling’s sheetrock to create 1,000 individual twinkling stars. TYM’s creative director then painted a ceiling mural of the cosmos. The completed ceiling reveals the different colors and sites of the night sky in the changing light of the room. The overall effect in magical.

After months of planning and hard work, the result is a theater is a wonderfully rustic, yet high-tech entertainment space that brings a huge smile to the owners and their family. This theater project was part of smart home featured in the 2015 Salt Lake Parade of Homes. The home won the “People’s Choice Award” as well as, Best Architecture, Best Design, and Best in Category. This was TYM’s third year providing custom audio/video and smart home integration for Tree Haven Homes’ parade of homes entry.
