Tym (pronounced ‘time’)—a leader in home entertainment and smart home design and installation—received two TechHome® Mark of Excellence awards from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ presented at the annual CES 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. These awards will recognized Tym’s design and installation of custom high-end smart home and home theater systems in Utah.

AWARD: Custom Home of the Year between $50,000 – $150,000 (total technology cost)
Built by custom home builder, Tree Haven Homes and featured in the 2016 Salt Lake Parade of Homes, this beautiful new home in Bluffdale, Utah features Savant high-end smart home control & entertainment technology including over 100 speakers—indoors and out—for 25 zones of high-resolution home audio, 4K Ultra HD video distribution for 12 TVs, smart lighting and climate control, commercial-grade WiFi, outdoor landscape speakers with buried subwoofers, a custom home theater with 4K projection, Dolby Atmos surround sound, and bespoke fiber optic star ceiling, and full surveillance and security system. The home has 3 additional surround sound systems—aside from the theatre—including one outside on the rear deck.
AWARD: Home Theater/Media Room Project of the Year up to $50,000
The StarLight Theatre, featured in the same award-winning home, is an open-concept design with the rear being open to the home’s other entertainment areas. A custom-built 132” edgeless, ambient light rejecting screen displays stunning images from the Sony 4K projector—even with the lights on—making this a perfect room for big game parties. The screen is also acoustically transparent, concealing the front speakers as well as the subwoofer. Dolby Atmos surround sound from 11 Paradigm speakers and a subwoofer create a truly immersive audio experience. The theatre gets its name from the bespoke fiber optic ceiling made from over 3 miles of fiber optic filament—with each star hand-placed into the sheet rock during construction. A custom-painted mural completes the ceiling.
